The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit ‘deepavali’, which means a row of lights. The festival of Diwali symbolises the victory of light over dark, good over evil and knowledge over darkness.
On the northern edge of South America is Trinidad and Tobago, a country with a portion of the population having Indian or other South Asian ancestry. As a result Diwali is celebrated as a National Holiday.
